International Applications of Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction in Coastal Areas (Second Batch II) launched in Yancheng

On 24 September, the World Coastal Forum 2025 Conference convened under the theme of Beautiful Coasts: Ecological Priority and Green Development. At the opening ceremony, the Ministry of Natural Resources of China (MNR) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN),PEMSEA’s Country and Non-Country Partner, respectively, jointly released the second batch of the International Application of Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR) in Coastal Areas, in both Chinese and English.

GEF Training Boosts Project Oversight among the East Asian Seas Regional Operational Focal Points

TAGUIG CITY, Philippines (25 September 2025) – The Global Environment Facility (GEF) concluded a two-day Regional Project Oversight Training in Taguig City, Philippines, convening Operational Focal Points (OFPs) from six East Asian Seas nations: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. The event was a collaborative effort by the GEF, the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), and the Philippines' Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Regional Steering Committee Approves Pilot Projects to Reduce Marine Plastics in Six Philippine Sites

The Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the MOF/PEMSEA ODA Project on Reducing Marine Plastics in the East Asian Seas Region has approved the pilot projects for the six Philippine sites: Bulan, Calbayog City, Daanbantayan, Dipolog City, Puerto Princesa City, and Tandag City.

 

The pilot project designs were reviewed and endorsed during the Intersessional RSC Meeting on 17 September 2025, held in a hybrid format via Zoom and at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Philippines.
