STATE OF THE COASTS REPORTING

The State of the Coasts reporting system, including the State of Oceans and Coasts reports, serves as a
comprehensive tool for assessing and monitoring the health and condition of marine and coastal
environments in the seas of East Asia. This provides valuable insights into the current status of oceans
and coasts, supporting evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation.

The reporting system employs a standardized set of indicators to assess key aspects of coastal areas,
tracking governance, the environment, and the blue economy. Repeated analyses allow for the tracking
of these indicators over time, allowing policymakers to identify emerging issues, monitor progress, and
evaluate the effectiveness of management interventions.

This reporting system can be utilized at different scales.
