PEMSEA's Professional Upgrading Program Begins with DPR Korean Intern

Quezon City, Philippines — Mr. Choe Rim of the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Korea has joined PEMSEA for a six-month period as part of PEMSEA's Professional Upgrading Program for 2010.Mr. Choe Rim is the Division Director of the General Bureau for Cooperation with International Organizations (GBCIO), Ministry of Foreign Trade, DPRK. He is in charge of implementation of projects in trade, electricity, coal production and tourism sectors. He has also served 14 years working on economic cooperation with international organizations under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Pyongyang and the DPRK Embassy in Libya.During his six-month stay in the Philippines, he will look into project development and management of ICM programs and the development of the Taedong Integrated River Basin and Coastal Area Management Framework using the PEMSEA Coastal Strategy development process.Mr. Choe Rim is the first of ten professionals and ICM practitioners joining this year's Professional Upgrading Program. Representatives from PEMSEA partner sites in Cambodia, PR China, DPR Korea, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Timor-Leste and Viet Nam will join Mr. Rim in April and September.
