Celebrating Earth Day amidst COVID-19

As the last territory on the earth, the ocean is the living space and treasure house for human beings. From a global perspective, World Ocean Week (WOW) in Xiamen serves as a platform for regional cooperation as well as for connecting marine and social science, technology, education, public awareness in making policies, management decisions and actions to achieve sustainable use of coastal and marine resources and for achieving sustainable development of the oceans.

 

The World Ocean Week in Xiamen, which is held once a year, commits itself to providing a working platform for international cooperation and communication among the governments of coastal cities, national agencies, experts in marine science & technology, members of UN and other international organizations and members of relevant marine industry, enterprises and institutions. WOW intends to facilitate the healthy development of marine industries and to promote sustainable utilization of marine resources, publicizes the marine-related culture festivals, and involves the participation of the public and raise their awareness of marine environmental protection.
