  • Enhancing the Success of Integrated Coastal Management (French)

    This report contains the main findings of the "International Workshop on Integrated Coastal Management in Tropical Developing Countries: Lessons Learned from Successes and Failures" (in French). It was held in Xiamen, People's Republic of China on 24-28 May 1996. The workshop served as a venue to draw out ideas from the participating practitioners. About 130 participants from 19 countries and 11 international and regional organizations shared various views and experiences which served as bases for the formulation of a collective definition of good ICM practices.

  • Integrated Waste Management Action Plan for the Batangas Bay Region

    Waste generation, collection and disposal are major problems in the rapidly growing Batangas Bay Region, Philippines. To develop a framework by which waste management and disposal can be effectively carried out, a waste management plan was created. The plan provides a cross-sector and cross-media approach to waste management, utilizing the combined resources and capabilities of the public and private sectors.

     

  • Strategic Management Plan for Marine Pollution Prevention and Management in Xiamen

    This Plan contains strategic actions and guidelines for both short- and long-term management of the coastal resources in Xiamen including the prevention and management of land-based pollution sources and its impact. The goal is to improve marine environmental quality and maintain socioeconomic growth in a sustainable manner.

     

  • The Regional Programme for Marine Pollution Prevention and Management in the East Asian Seas (GEF Project RAS/92/G34): Bi-annual Report 1994-1995

    This bi-annual report (1994-1995) aims to document the progress made in the covered years in the implementation of the programme. Many of the approaches, methodologies and experiences as well as the lessons learned from the successes and failures could be useful for the improvement of the programme and new initiatives.
