Friday, 4 November 2011
Quezon City, Philippines — PEMSEA has officially launched the website for the upcoming East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress 2012.
The EAS Congress 2012 website, accessible through http://eascongress.pemsea.org, is the main online presence of the upcoming event, providing in its pages succinct yet complete information on the wide array of activities during the week-long Congress, updates on preparations being made, and details on the various ways individuals and groups can participate.
"We are extremely pleased to have launched the official website of the EAS Congress 2012," said Raphael P.M. Lotilla, PEMSEA Executive Director and Head of the EAS Congress Secretariat. "The upcoming Congress is shaping up to be one of our best Congresses yet and this website will allow everyone to be kept abreast of the latest developments as we ramp up preparations ahead of what we hope will be one of the premiere coastal- and environment-themed events in 2012."
With the launch of the website, the EAS Congress secretariat has also started accepting pre-registrations to the event. An online form is available through the website that interested participants can fill out to be one of the first in line for the upcoming event. The secretariat has also started receiving pre-registrations for organizations interested in participating in the Congress as co-conveners, exhibitors, sponsors, and partners.
The next EAS Congress, to be held from 09-13 July 2012 in Changwon City, RO Korea, is the fourth iteration of the successful Congresses held in 2003 (Putrajaya, Malaysia), 2006 (Haikou, PR China), and 2009 (Manila, Philippines). Next year's Congress builds on the successes of the previous congresses and is expected to once again play host to a rich exchange of information and ideas about coastal and ocean governance and the environment.
