Introduction to the new PRF Secretariat Coordinator

PEMSEA welcomes Ms. Karen See to the PEMSEA Resource Foundation (PRF), where she will serve as the PRF Secretariat Coordinator effective 26 October 2020.
Karen will be reporting directly to the Executive Director on PEMSEA management and governance issues. She will be a member of the PRF Management Committee, the Technical Committee and the Communications/Knowledge Management Working Group. As the PRF Secretariat Coordinator, she will be responsible in overseeing the planning and conduct of the operations of the EAS Partnership Council, the Executive Committee and the organization of the EAS Congress. She also will serve as the PRF administrative liaison to the PNLG Secretariat and PNLC and assist the ED in the planning, developing, and delivering PEMSEA Secretariat and Facilitation Services in support of a self-sustaining, country-owned PEMSEA regional organization.
Before joining PEMSEA, she worked as an environmental economist focused on the coastal and marine sector at the Philippines’ National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), which serves as the country’s lead planning ministry. She also worked as a consultant on developing the country’s portfolio under the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the largest global financing window dedicated to helping developing countries advance their climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. Other previous work include voluntary service at the Save Philippine Seas and fieldwork at the Kushiro Shitsugen National Park, Japan’s largest remaining wetland. She now serves as an external reviewer for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.
Karen graduated with a degree in management economics at the Ateneo de Manila University of the Philippines.
