PNLG for Sustainable Coastal Development

The first of its kind in the East Asian Seas region, the PEMSEA Network of Local Governments (PNLG) for Sustainable Coastal Development is a self-sustaining network of local governments implementing integrated coastal management (ICM) programs. Local government members develop and implement ICM programs using the same framework and processes.

Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML)

Oil Spill Response (OSR) is a nonprofit corporation with expertise on building capacity to respond to oil spills and is capable of providing training and technical support in oil spill preparedness and response both at the regional, national, and local level and capacity building through drills and exercises.

Korea Marine Environment Management Corporation (KOEM)

KOEM is carrying out a variety of management projects for the marine environment, including conservation, preservation and restoration of marine ecosystems, addressing climate change, responding to oil spills, and research, development and implantation of new services for green growth.

Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST)

Korea Environment Institute (KEI)

The Korea Environment Institute is a government-sponsored national research institute specialized in environment police and management with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to contribute to the sustainable development and environmental management in the seas of East Asia. Established in 1992, KEI is one of the public research institutes of the Korea Council of Economic and Social Research Institutes under the Office of the Prime Minister.

International Union for Conservation of Nature - Asia Regional Office

IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature, helps the world find pragmatic solutions to our most pressing environment and development challenges. It supports scientific research, manages field projects all over the world and brings governments, non-government organizations, United Nations agencies, companies and local communities together to develop and implement policy, laws and best practice.

IOC Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific (IOC-WESTPAC)

The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO established its Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific (WESTPAC) in 1989 with main task to develop, coordinate and implement regionally specific marine scientific research, ocean observations and services based on priority interests of the Member States and to implement the IOC global programmes and activities in the region.

UNEP Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities (UNEP/GPA)

The UNEP Global Programme of Action (UNEP/GPA) aims at preventing the degradation of the marine environment from land-based activities by facilitating the realization of the duty of States to preserve and protect the marine environment. It is unique in that it is the only global initiative directly addressing the connectivity between terrestrial, freshwater, coastal and marine ecosystems.

International Environmental Management of Enclosed Coastal Seas Center (EMECS)

The International Environmental Management of Enclosed Coastal Seas Center (EMECS) is a non-government organization whose mission is to establish an organized network linking governments, researchers, companies, private citizens and other entities to promote academic exchanges on an international level and conduct research, training and support activities, in order to preserve existing enclosed coastal sea environments and create new ones and help create a society capable of sustainable development in which human beings can coexist with the tremendous diversity of nature.
