RO Korea Visits PEMSEA for Preparatory Meeting on EAS Congress 2012

 

Manila, Philippines — A five-member team from the Republic of Korea representing the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI), the City Government of Changwon, and the Coex Events Management Company met with the PEMSEA Resource Facility to review all the requirements and arrangements regarding the EAS Congress 2012 and the Fourth Ministerial Forum.
The two-day meeting focused on the various aspects of the EAS Congress and the Fourth Ministerial Forum preparations, from programme development to administrative and logistical requirements. In particular, the meeting resulted to the confirmation of the EAS Congress Framework Programme, Work Plan and Schedule, Budget, and Roles and Responsibilities. Both parties agreed on specific deliverables and timeframe to ensure the smooth arrangements and successful conduct of the EAS Congress and the Ministerial Forum.
The EAS Congress 2012 is scheduled on July 9-13, 2012 in Changwon City, RO Korea. Carrying the theme, "Building a Blue Economy: Strategy, Opportunities and Partnerships in the Seas of East Asia," the EAS Congress aims to address the new opportunities for the ocean economy of East Asia, the range of partnerships that have developed and the progress and achievements in governance of regional/subregional seas within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA).
The EAS Congress 2012 is organized by PEMSEA, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM), the City Government of Changwon, and is supported by the GEF and UNDP.
