Pyangyang, DPR Korea — Recognizing the need and significance to implement the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA) through ICM in DPR Korea, PEMSEA and the General Bureau for Cooperation with International Organizations (GBCIO), and with financial support from the Swedish International Agency (SIDA), have agreed to undertake a number of activities, including holding a "National Training of Trainers ICM Course/and ICM Course 1 Manual Translation."

An objective of the project was to translate and publish the ICM Training Manual (course 1) into the Korean language and for dissemination to relevant experts, officers and practitioners in DPR Korea to facilitate understanding on ICM concept and practices.

The translated ICM Manual was successfully tested during the workshop for ICM Training of Trainers Course 1 conducted by the PEMSEA and GBCIO in March 2011 in Pyongyang, DPR Korea. The translated ICM Manual is being updated to include the reviews and recommendation of the workshop participants from the national and local agencies/institutions, research institutions and universities in DPR Korea.

The workshop contributed to strengthening participants' knowledge and teaching skills essential to the implementation of ICM programs, as well as resulted in the identification of a potential pool of trainers and providing the foundation for ICM capacity building in DPR Korea.
