East Asia is home to a number of respected institutions providing research and expertise in environmental management of coasts and oceans. PEMSEA values its role over the last 20 years in connecting these institutions through a number of networks and applying their knowledge and skills towards integrated coastal management (ICM) coverage of 13.8% of the region's coastline.
PEMSEA's ICM Learning Centers, Regional Centers of Excellence, and other technical partners serve to strengthen the research and scientific base for effective coastal management strategy and programs. PEMSEA helps to disseminate this knowledge within these networks and globally through our Knowledge Services, including technical training and an extensive library of scientific publications.
Through PEMSEA, research and scientific institutions have an opportunity to discover the latest research on coastal and marine environmental management, connect with potential collaborators and apply research in practice in the region.
