Manila, Philippines — As the East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress 2009 approaches, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), in collaboration with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines, prepares to ensure quality management and practice of proper protocols with the conduct of a Training on Protocol and Conference Management last 27-31 July at the Bayview Hotel in Manila.The Training aimed to familiarize the protocol and liaison officers with their roles as well as with the meaning and scope of protocol and diplomatic practice in the Philippines and in the conduct of international events. The five-day training included lectures on protocol/diplomatic practice, events/ceremonies management, simulation visits to the Philippine International Convention Center as venue of the Conference and the major airports in Manila. To build camaraderie among the protocol and liaison officers, team building sessions were also organized. The EAS Congress Secretariat delivered a presentation to brief the protocol and liaison officers on the key events, objectives, and expected participants of the EAS Congress 2009.The trainees were selected from the different regional offices of the DENR in the country. It was organized to help the DENR officials/staff to prepare for two major international events to be hosted by the Philippines this year, the Green Industry Conference and the EAS Congress 2009. As lead national agency for the organization of these two events, theDENR considers that the training will help ensure their smooth and successful conduct.
