Lao PDR

Lao PDR, with an area of 236,800 km², occupies a central position in the Southeast Asian Peninsula and in the Mekong River Basin. Lao PDR has the most remaining pristine tropical rainforest in Southeast Asia, and as such, about 56% of the basin is still classified as forest cover.

The Sedone basin has the total area of 7,229 km² which spans across the provinces of Saravan, (5,160 km² or 72% of basin area), Sekong (8,106 km² or 9.7% of basin area) and Champasak (1,355 km² or 18% of basin area) provinces and a bit part in Savannakhet Province (16 km² or 0.3% of basin area) in southern Lao PDR.
