PEMSEA helps development organizations including multilateral and bilateral agencies, international NGOs, regional programs, foundations and development service providers with a focus on coastal and marine sustainable development to increase their efficiency and effectiveness in their East Asian programs.
With our origins as a UNDP/GEF project over 20 years ago and success evolving into a self-sustaining intergovernmental organization, PEMSEA understands the complexities of international development work. Through our customized Advisory and Project Services, PEMSEA can deliver end-to-end assistance from project design and execution to monitoring and evaluation. Our unique position working across the region with national governments, local governments and a number of other key organizations enables us to apply a regional perspective and facilitate the right linkages for effective program implementation.
As the pioneer of integrated coastal management (ICM) in East Asia over two decades ago, we have built up a substantial base of knowledge that development partners can access through our Knowledge Services, including capacity development workshops and an extensive library of publications.
PEMSEA remains on the forefront of coastal management practice, moving the dialogue forward through our Facilitation and Secretariat Services in a number of venues including the region's largest event focused on sustainable development of coasts and oceans, the East Asian Seas Congress, which brings together over 1000 participants including development organizations, government ministers and local government representatives.
PEMSEA welcomes the opportunity to help development organizations looking to scale their impact in coastal and marine sustainable development in East Asia.
