Main Features and Events
The five-day EAS Congress 2009 will include the Third Ministerial Forum, the International Conference on Sustainable Coastal and Ocean Development, Exhibition on Good Practices and Innovative Technologies, the 2nd EAS Youth Forum, Business Forum, Field Visits, and other side events or activities.
Third Ministerial Forum (26 November 2009)
Recognizing the serious impacts that climate change is having and will continue to impart upon the region in the foreseeable future, the Third Ministerial Forum will carry the theme "Adaptation to Climate Change through Integrated Coastal and Ocean Management", and focus on ways and means of enhancing social, economic and ecosystem resiliency to climate change through adaptation programs. The Forum hopes to come up with strategies and targets for assisting the most susceptible coastal areas, habitats and sectors of society in the EAS region, along with improved collaboration and cooperation among countries, regional and subregional projects and programmes, and international organizations.
International Conference on Sustainable Coastal and Ocean Development: Partnerships at Work: Local Implementation and Good Practice (23-26 November 2009)
The International Conference will feature six major Conference Themes that cover essential aspects of sustainable coastal and ocean development. A series of workshops, seminars and interactive sessions will be organized under each theme, providing the more than 1000 participants from the region and other parts of the world with access to a wealth of experience and expertise in improved governance and management of the regional ocean and its resources.
