    The EAS Congress Secretariat
    PEMSEA Resource Facility
    P.O. Box 2502, Quezon City 1165, Philippines

  2. Preparation of Papers: Manuscripts should be written in English and must be typewritten (using 12 pt.-sized font), double-spaced with 1" margins on all sides of the letter-sized paper (8.5" x 11"). Paper length should not exceed 10,000 words. An abstract, approximately 100-150 words in length should be provided with each contribution. The text should be justified. All pages should be paginated.

  3. Author/s: The corresponding author should be identified, and his/her full postal address, e-mail address and fax number should be given. (The corresponding author should be identified with an asterisk and footnote.) Full addresses must also be given for all co-authors.

  4. Text: Please follow this order when preparing the text: Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract, Keywords, Main Text, References, Table/Figure Captions and then Tables and Figures. Figures and tables must not be imported into the main text. (Fully descriptive captions must be provided for all figures.) All other footnotes, with the exception of table footnotes, should be identified with superscript Arabic numbers. Do not use hyphenation, except for hyphenated words.

  5. Units: The International System of Units should be used for all scientific and laboratory data, measurements and weights. Temperatures should be given in degrees Celsius. Spell out numerals smaller than 10, except those accompanied by a standard unit of measure (e.g., seven tanks, 7 kg).

  6. References: All publications cited in the submission should be presented in a list of references following the text. In the text, refer to references by a number in square brackets on the line (e.g., Since Chua and Ross [3]); the full reference should be given in a numerical list at the end of the paper. References should be given in the following form:

[1] MPP-EAS. Environmental Risk Assessment Manual: A Practical Guide for Tropical Ecosystem. MPP-EAS Technical Report No. 21. Global Environmental Facility/United Nations Development Programme/International Maritime Organization Regional Programme for the Prevention and Management of Marine Pollution in the East Asian Seas (MPP-EAS), Quezon City, Philippines, 1999.

[2] Jacinto, G., P.M. Aliño, A.S.P. Baviera, and G.S. Tan. "The Archipelagic Development Agenda of the Philippines: Framework and Formulation Processes." In the East Asian Seas Congress 2003, Regional Implementation of the WSSD Commitments for the Seas of East Asia, GEF/UNDP/IMO PEMSEA, Quezon City, 1997.

[3] Chua, T.-E. and S.A. Ross. "Building Partnerships with the Industry in Environmental Management: PEMSEA's Experience." Paper presented at the IMO Workshop on Partnership Building, 9-10 2003, International Maritime Organization, London.

  7. Illustrations: All illustrations (photographs, charts and diagrams) should be in high resolution (scanned or otherwise) and should be numbered consecutively in the order to which they are referred in the text. Maps should be complete and precise in details - e.g., latitude and longitude, etc. All lettering, graph lines and points on graphs should be sufficiently large and bold. If necessary, a scale must be marked on the photograph.

  8. Tables: Tables must not duplicate results presented elsewhere in the manuscript. Footnotes to tables should be typed below the table and should be cited in superscript numbers. Tables should be encoded, using single-spacing, using the table menu in MS Word. Do not use tab mode.

Important Notes

  1. Submission of Papers: It is understood that all submitted papers are unpublished and original works of the author. The author will be solely liable for any claims of fraud and plagiarism. Submission also implies that the manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that if accepted it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of PEMSEA. Authors are urged to read the format guidelines and check their papers carefully before submission. Contributions will not be considered for publication if the above format is not followed. All papers shall undergo an initial review by a Technical Committee before being considered for publication. Deadline for submission of full papers is on 30 October 2009.

  2. Editing: The corresponding author will receive the reviewed/edited text for checking. No new material may be inserted in the paper, unless accepted by PEMSEA. PEMSEA cannot guarantee the inclusion of late corrections and reserve the right to adjust style to certain standards of uniformity.

  3. Backup: Authors must always keep a backup copy of the electronic file of the paper. PEMSEA cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of contributions.
