On behalf of the East Asian Seas Congress organizers, we wish to express our sincerest gratitude to all those who participated in the recently concluded EAS Congress 2009 and for contributing to its success.
The EAS Congress 2009 and the Third Ministerial Forum achieved their objectives and reached significant recommendations for the sustainable development of the East Asian Seas region. The signing of the Agreement Recognizing PEMSEA's International Legal Personality, the endorsement of the Draft Headquarters Agreement to H.E. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the Philippines, and the signing of the Manila Declaration on Strengthening the Implementation of Integrated Coastal Management for Sustainable Development and Climate Change Adaptation in the Seas of East Asia Region are among the major achievements of the EAS Congress and the Ministerial Forum.
The workshops, special events, and exhibition conducted during the International Conference lived up to its concept as a region-wide platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, capacity building, strategic action and cooperation.
